WIWWW #4

Once again it's time to link up with The Pleated Poppy in all her stylishness (sort of addicted to her blog by now! ;-)

Kind of disappointed in myself this week.  I can do better.  I AM GOING TO DO BETTER!  My closet just depresses me right now.  I know I got some good in there, just keep pulling out the bad to put on.  Some of these outfits I should not even leave the house in.

Red jacket - Anthro
Trouser Jeans - Express
Brown heels - Steve Madden DSW
new necklace!! - Lisa Leonard Designs

Thursday:

Faux wrap shirt - Old Navy
505 Jeans - Levis.com
Orange braided belt - Boden
Flats - Nordstrom

Me & Mommy at the monkey cages
Splatter Tshirt - Target

b-o-r-i-n-g-!

silly tight jacket, see I can't even lower my arms! ;-)
Not at all in love with what I picked out of my closet to wear today.  Nothing is even worth mentioning where it's from.  I have the hardest time figuring out what is "appropriate" to wear out on the job site.  Only thing that is definite is my hard toed, hikers boots, safety glasses, and my hard hat (I know-I WISH I would have gotten a picture of me at the construction site for you all to see me in action!).  Meetings at the job trailer, muddy site walks, heavy machinery, and dangerous stuff all around.  I seriously love this stuff.

Today it was raining so that posed an even more interesting problem: keeping dry while outside most of the day.  Here is my wish for a better "rainy day" outfit:

Let it rain!

Let it rain! by PeachesPSP

I'd probably get kicked off the job site if I came in wearing this outfit (plus a hardhat would just look silly !).  I love to get my hands on some yellow rain boots.  They remind me of when I was little my mom had me wear my Paddington Bear's yellow rain boots-they fit me perfect she says!

Did you ever wear something growing up and could (or are) make it work with your wardrobe today?

Sewing Project 1, Part 1

I've been meaning to have more on this blog then just one post a week (especially since that one post is really just participation in a linky party with the spendid Pleated Poppy) and I did say in my intro that I work on one project at a time.  Well?  I got inspired over at Cassi's Blog: Bright Forest by her Bird Shirt Tutorial.  Here's what I'm starting up next!

See this lovely shirt?
70% Cotton, 30% Silk - H&M
Well I tore a pretty bad hole in it.  See?

and I deemed the hole unrepairable.  what?  no, thats not being very thrifty.

ok, well what if I tried to turn the long sleeves into short sleeves?  What if I tried to create PRINCESS SLEEVES??  well, how do I do that?

I picked up a flyer from a online sewing community (burdastyle.com) and a quick search turns up this pattern for Easy Princess Cap Sleeves.  I'm not that  accomplished of a seamtress, but I'm willing to give it a try.  It's not like I spent much on it anyway at H&M.

sooooo, I'll give it a try and let you know how it gets along!  ;-)

WIWWW #2

"heellloooo!" says Boss the cat
My second week of What I Will Wear Wednesdays and I've added an outfit!  Ok, its a partial outfit again-but the lower half was quite boring so I'm going to use Polyvore again and spice it up!

Start with Wednesday:
It was a chilly day in SF so I donned on my favorite yellow coat from -yep- that favorite store of mine, Anthropologie.
Got my husband to take the following pictures.  I think that was a first and a last time.
white eyelet dress - macy's junior dept
black jeggings - anthro (on sale!)
green sweater - nordstrom many moons ago
neutral wood wedges - not sure, as old as the sun

So at the end of my work day that day, a friend/co-worker pulls me aside and shares some exciting news...and then she turns the news into a question back to me.  Can you guess what that question might be from the next picture?
OMGOMGOMG!  Must have had people all over the office wondering that same question!  Oh well, let them keep guessing.  One of these months it just might come true.  (I'm crossing my fingers in this shot, how funny)  This just goes to show, I REALLY need to check myself out in a full length mirror before heading out of the house.

Thursday, or MY FRIDAY as I like to call it:
"hello there, sippy cup.  you don't belong in the bathroom!"
My husband picked out this top for me as a birthday present a few years ago.  Again, from Anthro, cause he knew I would love pretty much anything he picked out for me there.  Such an easy top to throw on, but I run out of ideas on how to style the bottom half other then jeans, jeans, jeans!  Would it go with something more like this?

I actually own that hat above (Target) so it's not such a stretch that I might one day own an outfit very much like this.  I love the three toned skirt!!

WIWWW #1

For my first week of What I Will Wear Wednesday, I went far back into my closet and pulled out this:

from Express-early 2000'sPale purple/lavender 3/4 sleeve button shirt.  This, and my favorite white knitted hoodie, is what is left of my first attempt to purchase professional wear when I was a lowly summer intern at an architecture firm in Santa Barbara.  I think it is from 2001.  Wow!  Can it be really 10 years since I bought it?  Man, I wasn't even old enough to drink legally that summer.

I really didn't plan out more of an outfit beyond picking out this shirt that day.  I paired it with my dark grey/brown pants (Express Editor 2007) and my favorite flats (Cynthia Vincent Escher).  What I WOULD have liked to wear it with is something like this:

Spring by PeachesPSP featuring twelfth street by cynthia vincent shoes

Eastex sparkly top

60 GBP - debenhams.com

Vest

morganclare.co.uk

Polo Jeans Co. cotton shorts

$110 - farfetch.com

Twelfth street by cynthia vincent shoes

131 GBP - amrag.com

Headbands hair accessory

$14 - topshop.com

Please excuse the clothing/items links, my first time using Polyvore.com to link in and wanted to see what it would look like.  Pretty neato site, Polyvore, lets you create outfits and decorate rooms to your hearts desire. *sigh*  Maybe my next post should be on using that site.  Well you should go check it out anyway, before I start.

What I WILL Wear Wednesdays <WIWWW>

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."  -Theodore Roosevelt

I've been reading a few personal blogs where ladies have posted pictures on Wednesday of outfits they put together throughout the week and photographed themselves wearing Pleated Poppy.  After this weekend's trip up to the great PNW, where I forced myself to brake out of my "everyday wear" and try something new, I've decided to keep it up and plan to work more with the forgotten items in my closet.  I mean, if I'm not going to be able to part with some of my clothing, then I better be able to put them on my body on a more regular basis.  Also to keep me from saying I need to go shopping for more clothes, the familiar IHAVENOTHINGTOWEAR! attitude I get so often.

My plan this week is to sort through my closet and put together outfits I've never tried.  This should include shoes and belts, as well as clothing.  I will post pictures on Wednesdays.
